The Curative Power of Ice Cold

My soul is fixed. Christmas craziness gone. Up in Vermont and cold plunging w friends while family snowboards. Some nice ice chunks in the lake yesterday and went in Lake Champlain today. Merciless and beautiful cold.

I started cold plunging in late 2021 after reading about the health benefits, but what I didn’t realize at the time was that it gives you a huge surge of dopamine as well, something like 250% percent, and it lasts for hours. That’s one of the reasons why people coming out of freezing cold lakes are so deliriously happy. If you’re in the midst of winter blahs or feeling dopamine deficient because you’ve recently stopped drinking and your brain is resetting, there is nothing like it. Find some water ideally around 50 degrees F or colder and drop in even for just a minute. Go for 2 and you’ve gotten most of the benefits you’re going to get. It doesn’t take much for a big impact.
